Luke is new to the SSi Team and has been with us for just over a month! He enjoys snowboarding, hiking, or biking in the mountains, playing goalie for his hockey team, and spending time with family and friends. His team describes him as very detailed, charismatic, and appreciates his willingness to take on new challenges.

We asked Luke a few questions to get to know him more personally, and here is what he had to say:

What does your role encompass at SSi Artificial Lift?

My role at SSi is as a Mechanical Engineer. I handle many day to day tasks such as answering technical questions from clients or vendors, as well as supporting long-term projects such as the development of innovative new designs and products. You would come to me with anything related to the design of the SSi units or the technical drawings.

How do you prefer to start your day?

Reviewing all of my tasks for the day to make sure I’m prepared and have a plan on where I will allocate my time.

What is your favourite local restaurant?

I love pasta, so my favourite is Buon Giorno’s in Calgary, AB.

What energizes you at work?

Being innovative. Working on new designs and products that require a perfect balance of ingenuity and technical precision.

What is the first concert you ever went to?

Garth Brooks!

What are you reading now?

‘Millionaire Teacher’ by Andrew Hallam.

What is your favourite sports team to watch?

The Toronto Maple Leafs – maybe they’ll win a cup in the next 50 years?

What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?

Working out regularly.

If you could give one-piece of advice to a 10-year-old you, what would it be?

Let yourself be happy. Don’t stress about every little thing and learn to live in the moment.

What is your hometown, and where do you currently live?

I was born in Calgary, AB, and have lived here ever since.

What do you enjoy most about working at SSi?

The diversity of the work. As a smaller company, everyone has many roles and works together to take on diverse projects in order to be successful. I find this very refreshing as every day is a new challenge and an opportunity to learn.

Thanks, Luke! We’re so fortunate that you’ve joined the SSi team.
